Robert Loll, a Security Officer assigned to the Healthcare of Division of Teachout Security Solutions, recently received Teachout’s World Class Service Award. Officer Loll received the award in recognition of his remarkable bravery as he responded to an incident outside of a local hospital’s emergency entrance.
A man, who had doused himself with a flammable liquid, approached the entrance and ignited the liquid. As the man burst into flames, Officer Loll forced him to the ground and in spite of the extreme risk to his own life, began to use his uniform jacket to smother the flames.
At one point, the man rose from the ground still covered in flames. Officer Loll again wrestled him to the ground and finished smothering the flames.
Teachout Security Solutions President and CEO, Joseph Cozart, presented Loll with the World Class Award and stated, “Officer Loll just did an incredible job. He’s always been recognized as a great officer, but when something like this happens you really find out what kind of people you have…you discover a level of commitment and bravery that is just very humbling. We are very proud of Robert. We’re glad he wasn’t hurt and we are all praying for the recovery of injured man. ”
Officer Loll will be nominated for recognition by the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety and American Society of Industrial Security.
The man is at last report in critical condition in the hospital’s burn unit.
